No clue yet to Jhenaidah transgender murder

Family members expressed dissatisfaction as police are yet to find any clue over the murder of a transgender in Jhenaidah after three months.  

Forty-year-old Karishma Khatun was found dead at own home at Udoypur village early September.

Nurunnabi, an elder brother of the third gender (hizra) Karishma Khatun said she (Karishma) was living alone at her own house at Udoypur village, about two kilometers from the district headquarters. 

She was committed to sell her house to some Kazal when she constructed a new house near Jhenidah district bus terminal. When the men of Kazal rushed Karishma’s hose on September 9 last found 

her dead at her.

Nurunnabi said although she was hanging with the ceiling fan as sitting condition. Karishma might be killed by the thieves to snatch her valuable ornaments and money she was possessing.

Sharafat Hossain, another brother of Karishma Khatun said they had committed to extend all-out cooperation to police, while they could not see any progress in the murder incident when 80 days went passed. It might change the motive of the killing incident. 

For speedy investigation and justice, the family desires in handing over the case to criminal investigation department (CID), Sharafat Hossain said.

Abul Khayer Sheikh, officer in charge (OC) investigation of the case when contacted said it was a clueless killing. Post mortem report said it was a murder and they had seized all evidences following the case merit.

Police are trying to find the clue using modern technology, OC investigation Abul Khayer Sheikh said.
