There will be no Boshonto Utshab (Spring Festival) this year due to the covid-19 pandemic situation. Dhaka University authority did not give permission to hold any gathering this year.
Jatiya Boshonto Utshab Udjapan Parishad (National Spring Festival Committee) has been organised Boshonto Utshab on the Charukola (Fine Arts faculty) premises of Dhaka University to welcome the spring season for decades.
Professor Nisar Hossain, Dean of Fine Arts of Dhaka University said, “Jatiya Boshonto Utshab Udjapan Parishad usually organises the festival on the university premises every year. This year, they communicated with us but we could not permit them to use our venue due to the Covid-19 pandemic.”
“Dhaka University is not a place for mass gathering. The university administration has strongly prohibited it. The government has instructed to avoid mass gathering. So, the Boshonta Utshab will not be held this year,” he mentioned.
