State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said there is no alternative to sports for a healthy society. If we can carry forward the 'sports and cultural' activities, then the dream of the father of the nation will come true.'
The state minister was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the 6th Feroz Zaman Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament-2022 at Sheikh Russell Mini Stadium in Setabganj, Dinajpur on Saturday.
State Minister Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said, "We see the great contribution of sports as well as education in building a healthy society. Now the children are playing various sports including cricket, football and volleyball. Which is good news for us.”
He said the last 13 years before the country's stadium sports were not so much, but since the Awami League came to power people have seen a massive walk.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been encouraging players and organizers to attend inter-district sports competitions, which people have not seen the presence of any government or head of state in the past.
The state minister said that the Prime Minister has built Sheikh Russell Mini Stadium in every upazila to create environment for sports. District level stadiums are being modernized.
