In an interview with an agency ahead of the historic Test, the 47-year-old former pace bowling all-rounder shared his thrills, coming up at this stage, moving forward and thinking about the future.
“Can’t explain how excited I am. My dream and goal of becoming a match referee is going to be fulfilled. I am also the first person in the country as a Test match referee, which is a matter of great pride. I think it’s a reflection of merit.”
“Whatever the situation, it has been good for me, it has been good for the Shoikot (Sharfuddaula), and it has been good for the cricket in the country. We got the opportunity. Hopefully, we can maintain good work. I think if everyone can work together, we can take this sector of cricket forward,” he added.
He was a part of the history-winning victory over Pakistan in the 1999 World Cup. This is the beginning of a new chapter for him.
“Now I will be the match referee in Tests, this is also one of my biggest achievements. I have been working towards this goal for a long time. I think, my cricketing career is going to get fullness with it. Not everyone has such good fortune to make history. No one can take it away from me,” he said.
He is not just a match referee, he is also the Assistant Vice President of Mutual Trust Bank.
