Nirjhor celebrates 25 years with special concert in Dhaka

Bangladeshi rock band Nirjhor celebrated its 25th anniversary with a special concert in Dhaka last Friday evening. The event, titled ‘25th Nirjhor’, was held at the popular venue Jatra Biroti in the capital.

The band, which started its journey on June 7, 2000, with a solo concert at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy auditorium, has been a beloved name in the country’s rock music scene for over two decades. To mark the milestone, the band’s current lineup came together for this memorable performance.

The lineup included Joy Shahriar on guitar and vocals, Zamael Tilok on lead guitar, Maruf-Ul Haque on bass guitar, and Tafsir Khan on cajón. The concert lasted nearly three hours and was attended by many well-known personalities from the music world.

Musicians Shafiq Tuhin, Elita Karim, Saif Zaman, Khayam Sanu Sandhi, and lyricist Robiul Islam Jibon were among the guests who came to congratulate the band on its long and successful journey.

The evening featured performances of songs from Nirjhor’s two albums, along with popular numbers from Joy Shahriar’s solo career. Audience members enjoyed the nostalgic experience as the band performed some of their most-loved tracks from over the years.

In a special segment of the event, Elita Karim, Saif Zaman, and Khayam Sanu Sandhi also took the stage to perform, adding extra charm to the night. The concert was jointly organised by Ajob Karkhana and Jatra Biroti.

Fans of the band and Dhaka’s music lovers gathered in large numbers to celebrate the occasion, making it a night to remember for the local music scene.
