At least nine workers of a plastic factory were injured in a nitrogen gas cylinder explosion at ‘Padma Cans and Closures Ltd’ in Hemayetpur area of Savar, on the outskirts of the capital, on Thursday.
Sub-Inspector of Savar Model Police Station Shujon Sikdar confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Post.
Talking to Bangladesh Post, workerssaid they joined the factory in the morning. All of sudden a cylinder of nitrogen gas exploded with bang leaving at least nine people critically injured. The injured were taken to the nearby hospitals, they added. Quoting the factory authorities, police said no workers sustained severe injuries.
Police opened an investigation into the incident, SI Shujon said.
Bangladesh Post could not reach managing director of the factory,Mainul Haque Khan, for a comment.
