Nine fell sick by consuming Panta at Nandigram

Nine farm-labourers turned sick by consuming Panta (Semi-fermented watery rice)  at Katham Berabari village under Nandigram upazila of Bogura district on Saturday morning.

The sick labourers have been identified as Nazmul Haque 37, Akram Hossain 40, Shahidul Islam 39, Shahid Hossai 34, Taijul Islam 35, Shah Alam 40, Abdul Hamid 36, Delbar Rahman 39 and Sekander Ali 55, Six of those sick labourers have been admitted to Bijrul Health Complex of Nandigram upazila.

It is learnt, 10 farm hands from Nageswari upazila of Kurigram district arrived at Nandigram to reap paddy couples of days ago. On Saturday morning they consumed Panta bhat at the house of farmer Sohel Hossain at Berabari village. After consuming the Panta, they felt pain in their stomach and started vomitting with loose motion. When their condition deteriorated, six of them were admitted to Bijrul Health Complex and others took treatment from the local physicians.

Labourer Majmul Haque informed, they took Panta in the morning at the house of the farmer Sohel and developed stomach pain, vomitting and loose motion. 

Dr. Tofazzal Hossain Mondal, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer informed, some farm hands were admitted to the hospital with the symptom of food poisoning. They were being treated at the hospital.
