NGOs distributes 20,000 masks among pedestrians

District NGO Coordination Committee has decided to distribute 20,000 masks among pedestrians in Manikganj town in an attempt to curb the spread of corona virus.

Deputy Commissioner SM Ferdous formally inaugurated the two-day long program from Shaheed Rafiq square in the district town at 12 noon on Thursday.

The mask distribution program organized by the District NGO Coordination Committee in Manikganj, where Chief  Executive Officer of District Council (Zilza Parishad) Dur-Ray Shahwaz, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Genarel) Md. Moniruzzaman, Manikganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Iqbal Hossain and District NGO Coordination Committee officials along with representatives of government and non-government organizations were also attended .

Speakers on the mask distribution program said as wearing Mask is mandatory, The aim of distributing face masks is to help people. So we have been distributing the Masks for free to the needful men, women and kids In hospitals and also on road sides.

Although only masks on their own will not protect you from COVID-19. We should also practice physical distancing and frequently clean your hands to help fight with the second wave in COVID-19, they point out.

Under the supervision of executive magistrates, 20,000 masks will be distributed from 8 spots in the town on Thursday and Friday.Meanwhile, Saturia Upazila Chairman Bir Muktijoddha Advocate Abdul Majid Photo also distributed masks and food to more than a hundred village policemen on his own initiative.

Council Member Mamtaz Begum, Upazila Vice Chairman Abul Bashar, Baliati Union Chairman Rahul Amin, Dhankora UP Chairman Abdur Rauf, Dighulia UP Chairman Matiar Rahman were present at this time.

Saturia Upazila Chairman Bir Muktijoddha Advocate Abdul Majid Photo said the village police had played a role in preventing the corona virus. He called for vigilance in child marriage, drug control, terrorism and militancy.
