Newly elected UP chairmen, members in Bandarban take oath

The newly elected UP chairpersons of three unions in Sadar Upazila, Kuhalang, Suwalak and Tonkabati have been sworn in the 5th phase of Union Parishad elections in Bandarban.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at Bandarban Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Friday.

Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Yasmin Parveen Tibriji as the chief guest administered oath to three newly elected chairmen of three unions in Sadar upazila.

 The newly elected chairpersons are Mongpu Marma in Kuhalong Union No 1, Ukyanu Marma in Suwalak Union No 4 and Mang Yang Mro in Tonkabati Union No 5.

Yasmeen Parveen Tibriji said that it is the duty of the people’s representatives to find the good and the bad in their area. Today it is soaked in the love of the people.

I am hoping that the people will continue to protect this quality of love in the future as well. 

She also called upon the people to carry out their duties and responsibilities in a lawful manner after taking oath.

Local Government Deputy Director Lutfar Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police Nazim Uddin, Bandarban Sadar Upazila Parishad Executive Officer Sabrina Afrin Mostafa, former chairman of Kuhalong Union Sanupru Marma, President of the Press Club Monirul Islam and others were present.

Earlier in the morning, Sabarina Afrin Mostafa, Executive Officer of Bandarban Sadar Upazila Parishad administered the oath of office to the newly elected members as the chief guest.

A total of 35 members including 26 members of 9 unions and 9 members of reserved seats were administered oath in 3 unions including Sadar Upazila Vice Chairman Raju Mong Marma and Women Vice Chairman Yesapru Marma.
