New building of Moulvibazar Shilpakala Academy inaugurated

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated the newly constructed state-of-the-art building of District Shilpakala Academy at a cost of Taka 22 crore in Moulvibazar.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina virtually joined from Ganabhaban on Wednesday at 11:30 am. Meanwhile, Moulvibazar Deputy Commissioner Nesar Ahmed, Moulvibazar Habiganj MP Syeda Johra Alauddin, Deputy Commissioner Mir Nahid Ahsan, District Council Chairman Misbahur Rahman, District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Zakaria were present at the inaugural function. General Secretary M Emdadul Haque Mintu along with district administration officials, freedom fighters, writers, journalists and representatives of cultural organizations.

After the inaugural address of the Prime Minister at Ganabhaban, the Member of Parliament and the Deputy Commissioner unveiled the inaugural plaque of the newly constructed state-of-the-art building of District Shilpakala Academy on behalf of the Prime Minister in the meeting room of Moulvibazar Deputy Commissioner's Office. The newly constructed four-storey building houses the office of Shilpakala Academy, rich library room, training hall, seminar hall, dormitory and 500-seat auditorium with air-conditioned stage management with light-sound facilities.

M Emdadul Haque Mintu, general secretary of the district Shilpakala Academy, said, "This is our long-term expectation." Due to the lack of a building, the cultural activists could not perform well. With the sincere efforts of Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, we have got a state-of-the-art building. As a result, cultural activists will be able to practice culture in a rich range. On behalf of Moulvibazar, he congratulated and thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, State Minister for Culture KM Khalid and Director General of Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky.
