New 11 wards of Sylhet city initially demarcated

Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) has primarily completed the boundary demarcation process of 11 new wards and the formation of three reserved wards.

Residents of the areas can submit any suggestions or objections to preliminary decision of demarcating the expanded areas of the SCC till March 8. People are requested to submit their written suggestions and any objection to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sylhet and Boundary Delimitation Officer of SCC within the stipulated date.

The 11 new general wards and 3 reserved wards have been formed by rearranging the areas of extended Sylhet City Corporation.

On 31st August a notification of SRO No. 288-Act / 2021 was published in the additional issue of Bangladesh Gazette to notify the Expansion of SCC by incorporating four Sadar upazila of Sylhet district and three unions of South Surma upazila’s mouzas with Sylhet City Corporation. And in accordance with Sections 29 and 30 of the Local Government (City Corporation) Act, 2009, the initial decision was taken to demarcate the extended areas of SCC by demarcating the wards on ward basis.

According to the new decision, Ward No. 28 of Sylhet City Corporation was formed with Gangu of South Surma, Kazirkhala, Riachatpur, Majpara, Sunampur, West Barikandi, Kamushuna, Telirai, Niamatpur villages, Rayergao of Dharadhpur village.

Ward No.29  was formed with Pirijpur of South Surma , Parbatpur, Badikona (partial), Dharadharpur,, Ummur Kabul, Lauai, Mohammadpur.

Ward No. 30  was formed with Jainpur of south surma, Chandai, Telipara, Chandai Paschimpara, Tiergaon, Talukdar Para, Nazarpur, Bakshipur, Galimpur and Daudpur village.

Ward No. 31  was formed with Quituk of sadar upazila, Naya Basthi, Muradpur, Peshnewaz (Muktarchak), Muradpur, Pirer Chowk, Mirer Chowk (partial) village.

Ward No. 32 was formed with Sadar Upazila Kalyanpur (Partial), Betar Kendra, Islampur( Partial), Islampur Colony, Islampur South-Falguni, Muslim Nagar, Mugir Para, Murila, Nurpur, Nathpara, Atalu, east Bhatpara, west BhatPara, Kandihuta, Mirapara, east shaplavag,  Sonapur, residential area of Tultika, East Kushighat, Shahparan residential area, partial area of agricultural farm.

Ward No. 33 was formed with Sadar City Khadimpara Partial, Kalatika Partial, Manipuri Para Slum, Bahr Das Para, Dhankandi, Panchgari, Lalkhatangi, Shahparan Residential Area, Bahar Noagaon, ATI, Bhawal Tila, Islamabad and Kollamgram.

Ward No. 34 was formed with Khadimpara (partial), Mir Mahalla, Bahar Colony, Bahubal residential area, Uddin Tila, Kalatika (partial) area of Sadar upazila.

Ward No. 35 was formed with Sadar Upazila Jahanpur, Syedpur (Partial), Mohammadpur, Chamelibagh (Goalgaon), Shyamoli Residential Area, Sylhet Textile (Partial), East Islampur, Government College (Partial), Engineering College, Dairy Farm, Syedpur (Partial), Jahanpur North (Buribasti) and Alurtola area.

Ward No. 36  was formed with the areas of Uttar Baluchar, Arambagh, Durgabari, MC College residential area, TV Gate Hospital area, Forest Department Tila, Eco Park, Agricultural University and Youth Development Department area of Sadar Upazila.

 Ward No. 37 was formed with Tilagarh of Sadar Upazila, Doria, Baragul, Dusak, SUST, Akhalia, Natun Bazar residential area, Jagipara, Damali Para, Akhalia Ghat, Qaripara, Khalapara, Chandiala, Noapara and BGB area. 

Ward No. 38 was formed with Nazir Gaon of Sadar Upazila  , Tiarbari, Pirpur(partial), Khaligaon, Haiderpur, Charugaon, Saheber Gaon, Sheikhpara, Wabda and Kakumargaon areas.

Ward No. 39 was formed with Sadar Upazila Shahapur, Noagaon (Partial), Naya Khurumkhala, Khurumkhala (Partial), Pirpur (Partial), Tukergaon( Partial), Noapara, Talukdar Para, Moiarchar, Noagaon (Partial), Noagaon Hindu Para, Tuker Village.
