Netrakona people pay homage to MP Khaleq

The 46th death anniversary of Abdul Khaleq MP's was held here in Netrakona with due respect recently (February 24).

Netrakona Sector Commanders Forum and Muktijoddha '71 jointly observed the 46th death anniversary with varrious programme including Mourned rally, placing floral wreath to graveyard of late Abdul Khaleque MP who was killed by unknown miscreants in 1975. A big mourning possession organised by Sector Commanders Forum and Muktijoddha '71 which was brought out from Teribazaar office and ending at Satpai Graveyard after circling the main roads of the town.  Veteran freedom fighter and president of the forum Shasuzzoha led the mourning possession started at 10 am and laid floral wreath to the graveyard of late Abdul Khaleque. 

Awami League leaders, freedom fighters, social workers of different organisation, leaders of different political parties, elits and other paid tribute to Khaleque. Later, a discussion meeting was held at Sectors Commander Forum office chired by it’s President Shamsuzzoha while addressed by among others Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed Masud, president of Netrakona district Bar Association and Public prosecutor (PP), Sitangshu Bikas Acharjya - secretary of sector commander forum, vetern freedom fighter Haider Jahan Chowdhury, Ayub Ali, Alhaj Khairul Islam- 2nd son of late Abdul Khaleque and Atpara upazila Parishad, President of Atpara upazila AL and others.

It may be noted here that in 24th February 1975 in night Abdul Khaleque was killed by miscreants while he return his Mukterpara residence after inaugurated an exhibition at nearby Muktarpara ground. Late Abdul Khaleque MP was the former founder Secretary of Netrakona Awami Legue and former General Secretary of Netrakona College students union.

 He was a popular leader at Netrakona Awami Legue and as strong organiser of Liberation War from Netrakona, he was a close associate of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.  A milad mohfil was held praying for his departed Soul.
