Netflix has officially renewed its hit supernatural comedy series Wednesday for a third season, even before the release of its highly anticipated second season.

Starring Jenna Ortega as the iconic gothic teen Wednesday Addams, the show has become a global phenomenon since its debut in 2022. With four Emmy wins and record-breaking viewership, Wednesday remains Netflix’s most-watched English-language series to date.

In the show’s storyline, Wednesday is sent to Nevermore Academy, a mysterious school for outcasts, after being expelled for a shocking prank involving piranhas. There, she unravels dark secrets while forming bonds with other quirky students — including her werewolf roommate Enid.

Season 2 of Wednesday will be released in two parts — premiering on August 6 and September 3. This season, Wednesday returns to Nevermore to face a dangerous new threat while also trying to protect Enid and confront her own evolving powers.

The ensemble cast will feature returning stars such as Gwendoline Christie as the shape-shifting principal, Emma Myers as Enid, and Riki Lindhome as the school therapist. The cast is further strengthened by appearances from Steve Buscemi, Christina Ricci, Luis Guzmán, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The series is developed by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who also serve as showrunners. Legendary director Tim Burton continues as executive producer, with music by Danny Elfman and Chris Bacon.

In a joint statement, Gough and Millar said, “It’s been a dark delight to watch Wednesday cast her spell over audiences — one deadpan quip at a time. We’re beyond thrilled she’ll return to stalk the halls of Nevermore in Season 3.”

They also teased that the new season will explore deeper mysteries surrounding the Addams family and the crypt beneath Nevermore.
