During the operation, VAT detectives find that the company sells goods by taking orders from different types of goods online and delivering them to the buyers through courier service. But the VAT imposed on the commission received by them does not deposit to the government exchequer properly.

Arif Ahmed, manager of the organisation, presented the VAT related documents of the organization during the operation. Besides, the accounts were seized by searching various places of the organisation.

A review of the documents obtained during the operation shows that the company sold a total of Tk 181 crore 76 lakh 61 thousand 868 products in the five months from January 1 to May 31 this year. In this case, the commission has taken Tk 6 crore 48 lakh 74 thousand 471. On the other hand, the applicable VAT as 5 percent is Tk 32 lakh 43 thousand 724.

The investigation further found that the limited company had paid Tk 4,41,90,477 at source VAT on various purchases during the period mentioned. However, the amount of VAT payable by the company was TK 4, 61, 75, 913. As an online service provider, it was obliged to deposit the money in the government treasury, but the company did not do so.

In other words, a total of Tk 52,29,160 including VAT of Tk 32,43,724 applicable to the commission and Tk 19,85,436 of VAT at source was detected in the said 5 months.

In the meantime, the institution authorities have informed the VAT intelligence authorities in writing by accepting the allegations of VAT evasion raised against them at the hearing to be held at the VAT Intelligence Department and submitting it to the government treasury voluntarily and voluntarily.

The report of the case has been sent to the Dhaka North VAT Commissionerate for taking legal action against the online company Alesha Mart for being involved in VAT evasion. At the same time, it has been requested to further monitor the overall activities of the organization and check whether there are any other financial irregularities.
