NBR claims Tk 7.57 crore VAT from N’ganj Club

The intelligence of value added tax (VAT) directorate issued a notice to Narayanganj Club on April 15 to pay Tk 7.57 crore of evaded VAT within fifteen days from the day of issuing notice.

The VAT intelligence department conducted a survey on transactions of Narayanganj Club selling wine and different services in 2011-12 fiscal year to 2014-15 Narayanganj Club LTD evaded VAT Tk 3.75 crore in those 4 years.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) clarified in the notice that the outstanding 3.75 crore taka and 2% interest calculating amount 3.82 crore taka total evaded by the Narayanganj Club. Director General of intelligence directorate of VAT Dr. Moinul Khan also said that the fixed 15 days would be calculated after the concluded lockdown situation in the country.

The NBR warned in the letter to Narayanganj Club if it failed to pay outstanding VAT amount within the time the legal steps would be taken properly.  

It is mentioned that Narayanganj Club has been run since British region as the elite person’s club. But these irregularities came to light and noted people had raised different opinions on it.
