An independent candidate from Jhenaidah- 1 (Shailkupa) seat Nazrul Islam Dulal fighting with the symbol ‘Eagle’ is committed to restoring law and order for peace-loving people of Shailkupa where at least 129 murder incidents took place in last 12 years. Most of them were killed due to village rivalry originated from political enmity in the crime prone upazila. Now the people of the upazila cry for safety and security round the clock.
But one of the vice presidents of Awami league Jhenaidah district committee and chief executive officer of Dhaka based Biswas Builders, Nazrul Islam Dulal now fighting as an independent candidate against the ‘Boat’ symbolic candidate incumbent lawyer Abdul Hyee. Dulal wants to make his constitutional area a Smart one within five years providing job opportunities of most of the unemployed youths, establishing crop preservation units and an agro-based industry within the time that will actually benefit the agro-based upazila people of Jhenaidah.
In an interview with this correspondent Nazrul Islam Dulal said, village clash in the name of politics made the people of the constituency crippled and victim to a section of political leaders in last two decades. A section of influential people numbering several hundreds engage in village clash with Dhal, Falla, bamboo stick, Ramda and other indeginous weapons within a short notice.
Killing of anyoaane even for a trifling matter is common feature where the political leaders usually stand by the miscreants. A section of the media activists and local newspapers have also been playing mysterious role being misguided by some of the elected representatives. It has been damaging the credibility of the norms of politics and the ideology of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his successful daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“I will ensure better health services for the people of the upazila making the upazila health complex modernized equipped with adequate specialists’ physicians, other staff and modern equipment within a short time to provide “one stop” services for the people staying in the locality.
With agitation Dulal said, when the wave of development had touched even the remoter corner of the country, the people of the constituency is halted on the metal roads due the minor or major patholes developing for years together.
The roads are even unfit for pedestrians.
“It was true that a total of 18 kilometres of road in the upazila was not fit for smooth movement in the last 18 years under the reign of the incumbent lawmaker”, the aspirant said. Industrialist Dulal believes the scenario of Shailkupa upazila might be changed within a short time if the attitude and activities of a “single man” is modified anyway. It will regain smile on the faces of the common and peace-loving people of the constituency, he said.
Thanking the election commission (EC) and returning officer in the district, the independent aspirant said level playing field was almost prevailing in the constituency and the voters will cast their votes in a free and fair environment when the government was showing zero tolerance to any misdeeds in any circumstances.
