Navy hands over 340 houses to homeless families in Sandwip

340 houses of 68 barrack houses built for the homeless and uprooted people were handed over in Udirchar, Sandwip Upazila of Chattogram district.

The Navy officially handed over the houses to the local administration on Monday.

The newly constructed barrack houses were handed over to the Executive Officer of Sandwip District by a Navy representative in the presence of local dignitaries.

The Bangladesh Navy constructed these barrack houses under the direct guidance of Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hasan and under the overall supervision of the Armed Forces Division.

According to Navy sources, each barrack has a total of 340 units, consisting of 5 units. Each of them has been built to accommodate a homeless family. Each barrack has separate kitchen and bathroom facilities. 

Under the Ashrayan-2 project, Bangladesh Navy completed the construction of a total of 4,560 barracks houses in a total of 233 projects in Bagerhat, Bhola, Pirojpur, Barguna, Barisal, Jhalokati, Chattogram, Noakhali and Cox's Bazar districts and handed them over to the local administration. 34,165 homeless families have found shelter in these barracks.  Bangladesh Navy is determined to contribute to such public welfare activities of the government and service to the country in the future as well.
