Supporters and leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held a series of prayer sessions and Milad Mahfils across the country on Friday (November 28) for the speedy recovery, long life, and good health of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. The events, organized in Chattogram, Rupganj (Narayanganj), and Santhia (Pabna), showcased the nationwide concern over her health and the strong solidarity of party members and local communities. In Chattogram, the Metropolitan BNP organized a special prayer and Milad Mahfil at a mosque adjacent to the city party office. The program was attended by top BNP leaders, including Co-Organizing Secretary Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, Member Secretary Nazimur Rahman, Joint Convener Mohammad Mia Bhola, MA Aziz, Advocate Abdus Sattar, SM Saiful Alam, Kazi Belal Uddin, RU Chowdhury Shaheen, Shawkat Azam Khawaja, Yasin Chowdhury Liton, Ahamedul Alam Chowdhury Russell, and Manjurul Alam Manju. The Mahfil included prayers for Khaleda Zia’s health, long life, and recovery. Alongside this, separate prayer sessions and Milad Mahfils were organized in each ward of the city under the initiative of Chattogram Metropolitan BNP, with active participation of local leaders MA Hannan, SM Abul Fayez, Mohammad Khorshed Alam, Kamrul Islam, Mashiur Alam, Mohammad Zafar Ahmed, and Mahabub Rana.
In Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj, a special Milad and Doa Mahfil was held at Bhulta Union, organized by Thakur Bari Tech Samajbasi. Rupganj Thana BNP member Kabir Hossain presided over the event, while Masud Rana, former deputy general secretary of Narayanganj District Chhatra Dal and deputy youth affairs secretary of Bhulta Union Jubo Dal, moderated the program. Aminul Islam Pins, acting convener of Rupganj Thana Jubo Dal, attended as the chief guest. The Mahfil saw active participation from BNP and Jubo Dal leaders including Masum Billah, Shakil Ahmed Nuru, Ariful Islam Arif, Zahid Hasan, Shahadullah, Rafiqul Islam, Abu Hanif, Masum Molla, Tipu Sultan, and Salauddin, along with hundreds of local residents. Faisal Hossain led the concluding prayers, invoking Allah’s blessings for Khaleda Zia’s speedy and complete recovery and for the welfare of the nation. Tabarock was distributed among all participants at the end.
In Santhia Upazila, Pabna, a similar prayer and Milad ceremony was organized at Bongram Bazar Central Jame Mosque in Ataikula Union’s Ward No. 4 under the initiative of BNP nomination hopeful and former Joint International Secretary of BNP Jubo Dal, Sardar M Jahangir Hossain. The program was presided over by Imam Harun Ar Rashid and attended by local BNP leaders including BM Delowar Biswas, KM Milan, SM Faisal Rahman Nice, A Razzak, Hosein Khan, Masud Doctor, Rajab Mal, Shahin Biswas, Shahjahan Ali, and organizational secretary A Khalek. The speakers emphasized the importance of Khaleda Zia as the “Mother of Democracy” and urged all participants to pray collectively for her health and well-being.
Through these coordinated events across multiple districts, BNP leaders and supporters highlighted their solidarity with the party chairperson and stressed the need for unity and collective prayers during her illness. Organizers and participants reiterated the significance of Khaleda Zia’s role in Bangladesh’s democratic process, expressing hope for her swift recovery and continued leadership.
In Narsingdi Upazilla, BNP and its affiliated organizations organized Milad and Dua Mahfils across Polash Upazila and Ghorashal Municipality on Friday after Juma and Saturday after Asr prayers, praying for the speedy recovery of party Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. Local leaders and residents participated in the programs held at mosques in every union and ward.
In Polash Upazila, programs were led by senior BNP leaders including Awlad Hossain Joni in Charsindur Union, Amjad Hossain Bhuiya Shamim in Gajaria Union, and Jaman Chowdhury in Danga Union. Similar events took place in Zinaradi Union under the leadership of Upazila Jubo Dal convener Nesar Khan. Participants included members of BNP, Jubo Dal, Swachchhasebak Dal, and Krishok Dal.
In Ghorashal Municipality, ward-based Milad and Dua sessions were held under the leadership of various BNP leaders, including Shamsul Haq Sarkar, Alam Molla, Mostafizur Rahman Babu, Haji Zahid Hossain, MA Jaman, Akhlad Hossain, Delwar Hossain, Nazmul Hossain Sohel, Zaherul Islam, Professor Saiful Islam, Jahangir, Mokbul Morshed Ratan, and Mohiuddin Chishti. The programs covered all nine wards, including key mosques such as Kathaliapara, Vharyaria, Polash New Bazar, and Atia Gao Central Jame Mosque.
The prayers emphasized Khaleda Zia’s health, the country’s peace, public safety, and the restoration of democracy.
