National Street Drama Festival 2024 portrays Anti-rape Awareness

The theatrical production 'Pipra,' helmed by Aktaruzzaman and produced by Natto-Dal, stole the show on the festival's fourth day on Monday. The play, which was based on the renowned Humayun Ahmed short story "Ant," sent a strong message about raising awareness of anti-rape.

With their outstanding performances, Fakhrul Islam Mithu, Mahmudul Alam, Saif, Saiful Babu, Rakib Al Hasan, and Mukta adorned the stage, emphasizing the significance of addressing and preventing sexual violence.

The 'National Road Drama Festival 2024,' organized by the Bangladesh Group Theater Federation, is currently captivating audiences at Central Shaheed Minar, continuing its tradition since 1980.

This year's festival, which honors the martyrs for the Bengali language, is themed "Politics' criteria is art, literature, and culture," and 300 theater troupes from all over the nation have signed up to participate.

Mansura Akhtar Lovely's intricate costume designs added depth to the narrative, enhancing the overall impact of the play. The festival, inaugurated on February 1, is set to continue until February 7.

In addition to 'Pipra,' other notable performances on the same day included the Dhaka stage's rendition of the drama 'Indur,' written by AKM Ahsan Kabir and directed by Mizanul Haque Nikti. Natyajoddha presented 'Takkar,' written and directed by Faisal Ahmed, while Swaravithi took the audience through the emotional journey of 'Smriti Minar,' written by Bazlur Rashid and directed by Shaukat Hasan.

The festival's collaborative efforts with the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy have resulted in an enriching experience for theater enthusiasts. Simultaneously taking place in 21 districts, 

the 'National Road Drama Festival 2024' remains a testament to the enduring power of art to address societal issues and inspire change.
