National Mourning Day observed at IU

The authority of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia, observed the national mourning day and 47th martyrdom anniversary of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Monday with due respect.

Marking the day, vice chancellor Prof Dr. Shaikh Abdus Salam hoisted the national flag at half-mast while pro-vice chancellor Prof Dr. M Mahbubur Rahman hoisted the black flag in front of the administrative building around 10:00am.

Later, the university authority brought out a mourning rally from the premises of administrative building. The rally was ended in front of the ‘Mrittunjoyee Mujub’ moral after parading the main roads of the campus. The university authority, later, placed the floral wreath on the feet of the Jatir Pita Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman led by vice chancellor along with its pro-vice chancellor, treasurer Prof Dr. M Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya and registrar in-charge HM Ali Hasan.

Teachers Association, Bangabandhu Parishod, Shapla Forum, Officers Association, different halls, departments, IU BCL Unit and different socio-cultural organizations placed the floral wreath at the same place.

After placing the floral wreath, a dowa-munajat offered for the eternal peace of the father of the nation, conducted by  Dr ASM Shoyeb Ahmed.
