National Girl Child Day celebrated in Munshiganj

Munshiganj observed National Girl Child Day 2025 on Wednesday in a festive atmosphere under the theme “I am a girl child — I dream, I fight with courage, I work for the welfare of my country.” The event was jointly organised by the District Administration, the Department of Women Affairs, and the District Shishu Academy.

The day’s programme began in the morning with the release of colourful balloons in the courtyard of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Fatema-tuz-Zohra Jannat along with several young girls.

Later, a discussion meeting and an award-giving ceremony for various competitions were held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

The Deputy Commissioner presided over the event, which was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Mushabberul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police (Finance and Administration) Md Kazi Humayun Rashid, Women and Children Affairs Officer Aleya Ferdousi, District Children Affairs Officer Dewan Hafizur Rahman, teachers, students, and representatives of different organisations.

Speakers at the discussion emphasised ensuring equal rights and opportunities for girls to achieve sustainable social and economic development. They stressed that gender equality and empowerment must begin within families. The programme concluded with the prize distribution among participating girls in a joyous and celebratory atmosphere.
