National Fisheries Week starts in Jhenaidah

National fisheries week was observed in Jhenaidah on Saturday. Producing of more and more fish and remove the unemployment was the main slogan of the week.

Organized by district fisheries office, fish fries were released at Dhopaghata point of local Navaganga river by Jhenaidah-2 seat lawmaker Tahjib Alam Siddiquee.

=Upazila parishad chairman Abdur Rashid Advocate, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) SM Shahin, senior upazila fisheries officer (SUFO) Golam Sarwar among others present.

Later district fisheries office organized a sharing meeting with the local journalists at Matsya Bhaban where district fisheries officer (DFO) Alfaz Uddin Sheikh and Jhenaidah press club president M Raihan among others spoke. 

DFO had discussed the objectives and output of the fisheries week and policy to develop in the fisheries section when the country has been witnessing a tremendous progress in fish production. 

The participants said the fish production and related activities have been playing significant role in the country, meeting the nutritional aspects of the ccccoutrymen and changing socio-economic state of the farmers day by day when the Prime Minister has been working reluctantly. The week will continue till September 3 next, DFO informed.
