Yesterday marked the celebration of National Film Day in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had jointly organized a variety of programs to celebrate this auspicious day. State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat inaugurated the National Film Day 2024 and offered floral tributes to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the afternoon at BFDC premises.

The slogan for this year's celebration was "Our cinema, our pride, let us promise that we will watch films in theaters." All attendees of the program participated in a procession after the inaugural ceremony. Following the procession, a discussion meeting was held on the second floor of the BFDC, which was attended by distinguished guests and prominent figures of the film industry. The Information and Broadcasting minister was the chief guest, and notable guests included Member of Parliament and actor Ferdous Ahmed, and Senior Secretary of Information and Broadcasting Md Humayun Kabir Khandaker.

The discussion concluded with the screening of the film "Mujib: Ekti Jatir Rupokar" at 3:35 pm. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy also celebrated National Film Day with a seminar titled "Expansion of Bangladesh Film Industry: From one country to another" which was held at 4:00 pm in the seminar hall of the National Theater Hall. An evening gala followed at 6 pm. National Film Day is celebrated on April 3 every year in remembrance of the day in 1957 when Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman proposed the establishment of the East Pakistan Film Development Corporation (FDC) at the then-East Pakistan Provincial Council. This year's celebration was a great one, with a variety of programs aimed at promoting and celebrating the film industry in Bangladesh.
