The National Expatriates' Day was observed Saturday in Natore for the first time at the initiative of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment with the theme "Probashir Kalyan, Morzada-Amader Ongikar, Smart Bangladesh Goray Tarao Soman Ongshidar".
On the occasion of the day, a discussion was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) office this morning with DC Abu Naser Bhuiyan in the chair.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Masudur Rahman moderated the discussion.
Superintendent of Police Md. Tariqul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police Md Shariful Islam, Principal of Natore Government Technical Training Center Engineer Mohammad Golam Nabi, its Trainer Saidur Rahman, Educationist Subidh Kumar Maitra and Principal Abdur Razzaq, Executive Director of 'Alo' Shamima Laiju Neela and President of Natore Press Club Faraji Ahmad Rafiq Baban, also spoke. The speakers said that remittance earners are playing an important role in keeping the wheels of the country's economy moving. The government has taken various steps including setting up technical training centers and providing training for these remittance fighters, providing incentives for remittance of expatriate income.

On the occasion of the day, a colorful rally was brought out from in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office which paraded the important streets and ended coming at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner office this morning.
Various bank officials of the district, heads of private development organizations, entrepreneurs and expatriates, among others, participated in the rally.
After the rally, a discussion was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) office where Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Nizam Uddin Ahmed addresed the function as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development and Human Resource Management) Pinki Saha in the chair.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Mainuddin, Shariatpur Technical Training Center Chief Engineer Md Mostafizur Rahman, District Information Officer Shaheen Miah, Assistant Commissioner (Expatriate Welfare Unit) Abdullah Al Mamun, were the special guests.
