National Girl Child Day-2020 has been celebrated in Ishwardi. Ishwardi Upazila Administration and Department of Women's Affairs jointly organized the day on Wednesday.
On the occasion of the day, a discussion meeting was organized at the conference room of the Upazila Parishad. Upazila Nirbahi Officer PM Imrul Kayes presided over the function. Upazila Acting Chairman Abdus Salam Khan spoke as the chief guest. Welcoming remarks were made by Upazila Women's Affairs Officer Shahina Sultana.
Upazila Vice Chairman Atia Ferdous Kakli, Social Service Officer Khandaker Masud Rana, Family Planning Officer Dilara Khatun, Education Officer Mrinal Kanti Sarkar, Information Services Officer Chandra Biswas and others also spoke at the discussion. Upazila Academic Supervisor Ariful Islam was present at the discussion.
Abdus Salam Khan said in his speech that the present government is a women friendly government. The government is working sincerely to establish women's rights in the workplace. In his speech, UNO Imrul Kayes said the constitution speaks of protection of women and children. The present government is working to protect women and children and improve their quality of life.
Those who are abusing women and children are being punished under the law. He called upon the social organizations and the conscious citizens of the society to come forward to prevent the abuse of children and women.
