Narsingdi was liberated from the grip of Pakistani occupational forces on Dec 12, 1971. Many battles took place in different places of the district during the Liberation time. Over 116 people lost their lives to free Narsingdi. The people of the district including the countrymen, always will remember the supreme sacrifice of the super heroes of Narsingdi.
A victory procession was taken out from Narsingdi Circuit House marking the day on Tuesday. The procession paraded Court Road and ended at Shilpokala Academy. People of different professions including teachers, govt and non- govt employees and freedom fighter participated in the procession led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Bodiul Alam.
A discussion was arranged at Shilpakala Academy. Moushumi Sarker Rakhi, Deputy Director, Local Government Department presided over the meeting while DC Dr Bodiul Alam was present there as the Chief Guest.
Among others, Md Mustafizur Rahman, SP, Dr Md Nurul Islam, Civil Surgeon, freedom fighter Abdul Motalib Pathan, President, Sector Commander Forum 71, Narsindi District Unit, Mohammaed Ali, former Principal of Narsingdi Govt College and Md Nurul Islam, President, Narsingdi Press Club were also present in the discussion.
Besides, District Administration has arranged a ‘Bijoy Concert’ on the occasion.
