Four youth conferences under the banner “Stories of Success from the Young Generation” were organised this month in Patuakhali, Jhalokathi, Barguna, and Bhola as part of Naripokkho’s “Right Here, Right Now (RHRN)” project.
The conferences took place on September 7 in Patuakhali, September 11 in Jhalokathi, September 14 in Barguna, and September 17 in Bhola, drawing enthusiastic participation from around 300 youths, educators, and community leaders.
Top government officials, including the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Deputy Director of the Family Planning Office, District Education Officer, and Deputy Director of the Youth Development Office, attended the events as chief and special guests.
Participants included members of the Tarunner Konthoswor platform, secondary school teachers and students, Durbar members, representatives of local partner organisations, youth organisations, journalists, and members of institution-based committees.
Speakers at the events — among them head teachers, family planning officers, education officers, and local journalists shared their experiences of working with Naripokkho’s RHRN project. They highlighted how the initiative has engaged young people in promoting awareness and leadership around Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).
In the second phase of the conferences, participants devised joint action plans to strengthen collaboration between the Tarunner Konthoswor platform and Civil Society organisations. The goal, organisers said, is to advance the campaign for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and to build stronger community-based networks for youth empowerment.
