Nargis Akhter hands over awards to film archive

National Film Award-winning filmmaker Nargis Akhter handed over her various awards and film-related materials to Bangladesh Film Archive on Thursday.

Besides various awards, including National Film Award, the director handed over betacam, scripts of her seven full-length feature films, photoset, 30 international awards and others to the Bangladesh Film Archive, said a press release.

Director general of Bangladesh Film Archive Md Jasim Uddin received the awards and film-related materials. Besides, Bangladesh Film Archive project director Mofakkharul Iqbal and film officer Fakhrul Alam were present at the occasion.

Nargis Akhter has been making documentaries, telefilms and feature films since 1993. Based on the subject of HIV and AIDS, her first documentary was ‘Ajana Ghatak’.

The filmmaker’s debut feature film titled Meghla Akash also deals with HIV and AIDS prevention and control, which bagged the National Film Award in six categories.

Nargis Akhter-directed films include Char Satiner Ghar, Megher Koley Rod, Abujh Bou, Putro Ekhon Poyshawala, Poush Maser Pirit and Jaibati Kanyar Mon.
