On the occasion of 176th birth anniversary of Guruchand Thakur, Lilamirito competition, colorful rally and discussion meeting has been held in Narail on initiative of Hariguruchand Matua Mission.The rally started from Narail government boy’s high school ground on Friday at 3:00 pm and went to the main roads of the town which ended at Rupganj Victoria College Kurirdop ground.District Awami League President Advocate Subash Chandra Bose was present as chief guest in the birth anniversary programmes. Hariguruchand Matua Mission Narail sadar upazila committee’s president matua Rupkumar Majumder presided over the function.Narail municipal mayor Anjuman Ara, Central vice-president of matua mission, AGM (Retd.) of Janata Bank matua ratna Balodev Biswas,organising secretary Ashim Paul and Minoti Rani Bose were present as special guests.Matua ratna,Journalist Ashok Kundu, Professor Gour Gain, Bimol Krisna das,Ramaesh Adhikay,Samoresh Majumder, Syamol Biswas, Bijon Biswas among others were present in the occasion.Matua mission Narail sadar upazila committee secretary Sanjit Rajbongshi conducted the programmes.Prizes distribution ceremony was held among the winners of Bandana competition at government victoria college Kurirdop ground. Thousands of Matua devotees from Hindu community joined the birth anniversary celebrations of Guruchand Thakur with beating drums.
Hariguruchand matua mission Narail sadar upazila committee president Rupkumar Majumder has been raising funds on personal level for the last three years and providing education materials including teachers' salaries and free books to more than 300 students in eleven Lilamirito schools,he said.
