Local Administration under Bhimpur union under Mohadevpur upazila has stopped the construction of culvert over a water-logged crop field.
Earlier, several hundred farmers of Abadppukur, Kashibari, Narchi, Masharpur and Kumuria villages under sadar upazila submitted an application to Deputy Commissioner of Naogaon and to Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Mohadevepur upazila demanded to cancel the project of construction of the culvert.
In the plea they said decision has been taken to construct a culvert to extract water from some fields of Hapania union of Naogaon sadar upazila and Bhimpur union of Mohadevpur upazila.
But it was not possible to extract water of the fields and water-body if the culvert is constructed at the selected site rather the problem of water logging in some 20,000 bigha of land covering villages Abadpur, Dafail, Mohanpur, Kashibari, Doshpaika, Narchi, Ullaspur, Kumuria, Char jafradbad, Bhabanigathi, Masharpur, Chandikhetra, Kushadanga, Shatapur, Charbikrampur under Hapania union. Rather water logging may be removed from those fields if the culvert is contructed only 500 to 600 feet away of the present site.
