Nannu seeks solutions beyond selection

Bangladesh's unexpected series defeat to the USA has sparked a blame game, with former Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu offering some interesting insights. Nannu, who faced much criticism after the team's poor performance, believes the core issue lies with a lack of overall team effort, rather than solely selection mistakes.

"They took it out on me and the selectors after the loss," Nannu admitted, acknowledging the post-defeat criticism. "We shouldered the blame for the group's poor showing." However, he swiftly redirected the focus, suggesting that simply blaming the selectors is a fruitless exercise. "Sound planning, on-field strategy, and application are paramount," he stressed.

"I have no complaints about team selection or player choice. And what's the point of revisiting the batting line-up when chasing a target under 150 runs? Utterly disappointing. Everyone played poorly. All departments were lacklustre. They played without any goals. It seems there was no plan at all."

A team can't survive solely on the good or brilliant performances of two individuals or one department. To win and be successful, all three departments must perform well simultaneously. Everyone needs to be firing. Where was that happening? Batting, bowling, and fielding were all in a poor state.
