Popular actor Jaya Ahsan starrer ‘Nakshi Kanthar Jamin’ (A Tale of Two Sisters) won the Best Feature Film at 14th Busan Peace Film Festival in South Korea. The Akram Khan-directed film was screened in the festival on 28 October. Eight films, including ‘Nakshi Kanthar Jamin’, were selected from around seven hundred films in the best feature film competition category.
Produced by TM Films, the government-funded film is based on fiction writer Hasan Azizul Haq’s novel ‘Bidhobader Kotha’.
About the film, Akram Khan said, “I’m overwhelmed to receive the award at the festival. The international recognition of the film made in the context of our Liberation War is a great achievement for us.”
Besides Jaya Ahsan, the film also stars Fariha Shams Sheuti, Iresh Zaker and Rawnak Hasan, Soumya Jyoti, Dibya Jyoti and others.
Earlier, the film was nominated for the ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). ‘Nakshi Kanthar Jamin’ also won the third best film award in the Asian competition at the Bengaluru International Film Festival.
