A youth allegedly tortured a girl at Araihazar upazila in Naraynganj on Wednesday as the girl rejected love proposal.
The victim was identified as Razia, 15, daughter of Halim Mia of Choughoria village under Madhabdi upazila in Narsingdi. She lives at Purinda area of Araihazar upazila. She worked at Vai Vai Spinning Mill at Araihazar upazila.
Halim Mia, father of the victim, submitted a written complaint to Araihazar police station on May 01 stating that, a young man named Awal, 20, worker of the same mill, tortured his daughter indiscriminately on April 27 when she was returning to her house from the factory. Awal tortured his daughter as she rejected his love approach, he added.
Awal is son of Salam Mia and resident of the same area.
Razia is now under treatment of Araihazar Upazila Health Complex.
Raju Ahmed, Sub-inspector of Araihazar police station, said that the complaint is under investigation and trying to arrest the accused.
