The murder of Rural Medical Practitioner Dr Abdul Mannan (70) of Charghat upazila nearly seven months ago is still shrouded in mystery. No one is still certain why Mannan was brutally stabbed to death. Family members and people of the locality have expressed their disappointment at the long delay in finding out the mystery behind the murder of Dr Abdul Mannan. They formed a human chain at the Zero point of Shaheb Bazaar on Saturday morning demanding to reveal the mystery behind the murder.
It is learnt during the time of Iftar on April-22 RMP Abdul Mannan of Kanuzgari village under Charghat upazila went to apply insecticides in his crop-land. During this time assailants killed Dr Abdul Mannan by stabbing him with a knife and cutting his throat. Family members filed a case with Charghat police station in this connection where some unidentified persons and one Rabiul Islam of neighboring Fatehpur village were accused and police also arrested Rabiul in this connection. But, the mystery behind the murder has not yet been revealed and on July 7 the court ordered the PBI to investigate into the case.
Mahim Hossain Limon son of the deceased said in the human chain that the PBI members have visited to the spot of the incident three times since July-6 and even after handing over the charge of investigation to the PBI for the last four and a half month, they are still to find out the mystery behind the murder of his father.
He further said, as a son he feels himself helpless and they became orphans by losing their father and their mother is now also bed-ridden. They are suffering from the death panic every moment.
He added, his father was killed nearly seven months ago while the accused in the case after getting bail is moving freely. He mentioned they themselves feel criminals when they watch the murderers of his father are moving freely whereas the police were failing to find them out. Under such a situation they all feel helpless, he further said. He demanded to find out and arrest the real murderers and award exemplary punishment for them. The human chain was addressed, among others, by the sons of the deceased Mainul Hossain Lipon, Mahedu Hassan Lipon, Mahmudul Hasan Sumon, Solua UP member Sabdul, farmer Abdul Bari, Charghat upazila Jubo League GS Nazmul Alam, Lecturer of Charghat BM College Ashik Elahi Bulbul and Sk Mokhlesur Rahman.
Additional SP of Police of Rajshahi PBI Abul Kalam Azad informed he will not be able to comment about the proceedings of the case without watching its files.
