Title contenders Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) has created history in the Dhaka Women’s Premier League (DPL).
Two batters of the national team, Murshida Khatun and Sobhana Mostari, scored double centuries for the team. It was really a rare achievement in the sixth phase of the DPL MSC scored 392 runs in a 50 overs match against Gulshan Youth at Ground 3 at BKSP, Savar on Thursday.
Winning the toss MSC decided to bat first. The two openers scored 135 runs in the opening pair. The pair broke when Jessia Akhtar departed after playing an innings of 75 runs off 41 balls. Murshida and Sobhana made a big score in the third wicket partnership.
While Murshida was unbeaten in the end, Sobhana back to the pavilion after completing the century. Sobhanascored 128 runs in an innings of 101 balls with six fours and seven sixes. Apart from this, Murshida, who remained unbeaten at the end of the innings, scored 179 runs off 157 balls with 23 fours and two sixes.
At the end of the stipulated over, MSC managed at 392 runs for three wickets which is the highest team run record in women's DPL history.
Earlier, the highest team collection was BKSP's 321 runs. In the 2022-23 season, they set the record for the highest run against Keraniganj Cricket Academy.
Gulshan were bowled out for just 141 runs in a hilly run chase by Mohammedan. Sandiha Islam Asha scored 32 and Suraiya Azmim scored 29 runs for them.
As a result, Mohammedan won by 251 runs. Spinner Rumana Ahmed took maximum 3 wickets for them.
