Murder case witness chopped to death in Natore

A witness of a murder case was chopped to death on Wednesday allegedly by the opponents at Gurudaspur upazila in Natore district. The deceased was identified as Jalal Uddin, son of Amzad Hossain of Jogindra Nagar village at the upazila. 

Jalal Uddin was the prime witness of Shafura’s (a destitute woman) murder case. Miscreants killed the woman in the area on May 13 in 2013. Later, the Shafura’s brother filed a case in this connection. Saiful Islam, Shariful Islam, Rafiqul Islam and some others had been accused in the murder case. 

Mozaharul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gurudaspur police station, confirmed the matter. 

The OC and the relatives of the vicitm said that Jalal Uddin was going to the court to bear witness to the court over Shafura’s murder. On the way to the court, he was chopped to death with sharp weapons opponents. The miscreants cut down the right hand of Jalal and his leg.

He was taken to the Gurudaspur Upazila Health Complex by the locals. Later, he was referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where the on duty doctors declared him dead.

The family members and the locals demanded arrest and captial punishement of the killers.

OC Mozaharul Islam said that they are trying to arrest the killers.
