A burglar was hacked to death by miscreants in Bogura Sadar Upazila. The incident took place in Akashtara area of the upazila around 12 noon on Friday.
The deceased name is Shakil (30), son of Shafiqul Islam of Naruli Talpatti area of Shakil town. He has several charges against him, including two murders.
It is learned that the murder took place due to a dispute over the distribution of money earned by gambling. Shakil controlled sand business as well as gambling in Dhawapara and Naruli areas of Sadar upazila. Although Shakil’s home is in North Chelopara of the city, he lived in Naruli Talpatti area.
Meanwhile, Shakil recently took Tk 30,000 from a gambling event in Naruli area. There was a dispute over the distribution of this money. As a result of the dispute, Shakil went to the Akatsara area on Friday afternoon and started confronting with miscreants. At that time, the two of the accomplices stabbed Shakil to death and fled. He was later rescued by locals and taken to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Additional Superintendent of Police Sanatan Chakraborty of Bogra Sadar Circle said “Those involved in the killing have been identified. The killings took place due to previous hostilities. An operation has been launched to arrest those involved.”
