Multiple candidates, from both AL and BNP,  are hopeful of contesting the national polls from Cumilla-5 constituency.

Intra-party feud and creation of various factions among the leaders and activists of AL in Cumilla-5 constituency have really questioned the discipline of the nomination seekers.

However, the nomination seekers of the ruling AL are lobbying in the party high-ups to secure nomination for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The incumbent lawmaker Abul Hashem Khan will seek party nomination to contest the next general election. “I shall seek nomination to contest the upcoming national poll. I’m sure my leaders will nominate me again,” he said.

Replying to a query, Abul Hashem claimed there is no crisis or intra-party feud in the local politics of AL in Cumilla-5.

“Some people are spreading propaganda against me. However, they are not successful. We are trying to resolve some sorts of problems. And, I believe everything will be resolved through discussion ahead of the national poll,” he added.

Apart from Abul Hashem Khan, Joint Secretary of Cumilla district south AL Sajjad Hossain, Principal Selim Reza Sourav, former student leader EhteshamulHaqueBhuiyan, Member of district south AL Abdus Salam Beg, Jahangir Khan Chowdhury, Cumilla South district AL Relief and Social welfare Affair Secretary and upazila Chairman MA Zaher will also seek party nomination to contest the next general election.

However, it is gathered that Abul Hashem Khan is likely to get the party nomination for contesting the upcoming poll.

Amid maintaining low profile and fewer political campaign activities, BNP leaders are not staying indoors. They too are campaigning to win hearts of the public and perhaps get the nomination.                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Simultaneously the BNP aspirants are taking part in the ‘Road March’ and  staging demonstrations  rallies and meetings as part their ‘one-point’ movement with the goal to remove AL from the power to hold the upcoming national elections under a neutral government in the constituency.
