The Bangladesh High Commission in London has continued celebrating the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through innovative programmes despite coronavirus pandemic.

In its latest move, the mission has decided to observe consular fortnight for providing better services to the Bangladeshi citizens in the UK and encourage trade and businesses.

High Commissioner Saida Muna Tasneem said they would organise a “Mujib Borsho Consular and Welfare Fortnight” in July to provide people with “better and faster consular and welfare services and bilateral trade and business advice by maintaining the health and safety advice for Covid-19”.

Details of the programme will be announced in due course through media, High Commission’s website and Facebook page, she said.

The pandemic forced the government to stop all the outdoor events of the Mujib Borsho.

The High Commission in London so far arranged two chartered flights to help stranded Bangladeshis return home.
