Mugging plot foiled: 16 gold bars recovered

Police foiled the plot of an attempted mugging of 17 gold bars from the possession of a man and arrested his in connection with the attempted mugging. 

The arrestee was identified as Jiten Dhar(48) son of Dinesh Dhar of Jamgnagar village under Puthia upazila. Police recovered 16-gold bars from the possession of Jiten. He sold one gold bar to someone. 

The plot of the attempted mugging was designed at Seroil area of Rajshahi city on last 21st December. The owner of the gold bars Dwijen Dhar filed as case with Boalia thana in this connection and police arrested Jiten Dhar on Friday last. Police revealed the incident through a press conference at the RMP headquarters on Saturday. Golam Ruhul Quddus, Spokesperson for RMP informed, elder brother Dwijen Dhar (50) lives in Feni. On December-21, he purchased 17 gold-bars from two Jewellers of in Feni.

 He came to the house of his brother Jiten early Saturday morning and gave Jiten to keep those gold bars. The total price of 17 gold bars is Taka one crore 12 lakh 71 thousand. Jiten planned to misappropriate the gold-bars. He replaced three gold bars with three lead bars by wrapping those with scotch tape and put those in the bag of the gold-bars. He put those three-gold bars at his house.

Later, Dwijen with his brother Jiten  came out of the house towards the Jewellers shop in Rajshahi city to sell the gold bars. As per the plan of Jiten, four people on two motor-bikes intercepted Jiten and his brother near Seroil area of the city and identified themselves as the members of Law Enforcement agency and showed them the hand-cuffs. They then snatched away the gold-bag from the possession of Jiten. They also snatched away the money bag and two mobile phones from the possession of Jiten and Dwijen and escaped by riding the motor bikes. 

It is learnt, the  drama of mugging was designed by Jiten. According to his plan, two persons named Mijanur Rahman Mijan and Mridul were following Dwijen and Jiten from Puthia. 

They also kept three more persons ready with motor-bike to snatch away the bag. Whenever, Jiten and Dwijen deported from the bus, Mijan and Mridul snatched away the bag from their possession. However, all 16-gold bars were kept at the house of Jien and he has sold only one bar from there. Police recovered rest 16 gold bars from the house of Jiten. 

Police source further informed, by analysing the footage of  close circuit camera and with the help of Information Technology, Boalia thana police were able to reveal the mystery of a clueless incident. Only Jiten has been arrested and police were trying to arrest other accused.
