A group of muggers strangled an autorickshaw driver to death to rob his vehicle at Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj district on Monday afternoon.
The victim was idendified as Rajjab Ali, 48, son of Sadar Ali, a resident of Pirojpur village under the upazila.
Police recovered the body of the victim from the roadside area at Haria village under Baidyerbazar union of the upazila, said Md Mohosin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonargaon Police Station.
According to the victim's wife Anowara Begum, Rajjab went out of his house with the battery-runo autorickshaw around 8am on Monday.
Later in the afternoon, they came to know that Rajjab was killed.
"The body bore injury marks on its neck and it was assuming that muggers strangled the victim to death for robbing his vehicle," said OC Md Mohosin.
The body was sent to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy and process to case a file in this regard was underway, added the OC.
