Mugger stabbed businessman, looted 15 lakh taka in city

A group of muggers looted 15 lakh taka after stabbing a businessman Shagordigipar area in Sylhet city on Thursday night at 10 pm.

The victim was identified as Shaleh Ahmed Gheda Miah, 55, son of  Siddek Ali, a resident of city Shagordhigipar area. He was a money exchange business man in city Ambarkhana area.

Police and local sources said, on Thursday night Gheda Miah was returning home by rickshaw with 15 lakh taka from his business establishment at Amborkhana area. When he reached near home, a group of muggers riding on motorcycle stopped him, and tried to snatch the money bag. At one stage the muggers stabbed him and took the money.

On information local people took him to the Sylhet Osmani medical college hospital for treatment in a critical condition. After the incident, police visited the spot.
