After remaining closed for a long time, the MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) service at Chattogram General Hospital resumed operations on Thursday.
Hospital authorities and related sources said the reopening has brought relief to patient services at the hospital.
Service initially limited to two days a week
The hospital administration stated that the MRI service will currently operate on a limited basis, running two days per week. This schedule has been set considering patient load and management capacity.
Authorities also indicated that the service schedule may be expanded gradually depending on the situation.
Relief for Long-Suffering Patients
Due to the suspension of MRI services, patients had been facing significant difficulties for a long time. In particular, low-income and middle-income patients were affected, as undergoing MRI scans at private hospitals is expensive. The resumption of services at the government hospital has brought relief to these patients.
Doctors’ Views
Doctors said that the restoration of MRI services will help ensure faster and more accurate diagnosis. This is expected to improve the overall effectiveness of treatment and benefit patients significantly.
Hospital authorities expressed hope that the days and hours of MRI services may be further increased in the future based on demand and operational capacity.
The authorities of Chattogram General Hospital described the initiative as an important development in the healthcare sector.
