Movies Releasing this Eid

The tradition of releasing films for the occasion of Eid is a decades old one, especially in the subcontinent. Before the advent of video-on-demand, DVDS, and now with the popularity of Netflix, Eid day movie releases no longer create the sensation they once used to. 

However, the Eid day releases still have a loyal fan base that makes it a point to watch the films that are released on the occasion of the holiday. 

Here is a list of movies releasing this season, which will hopefully entertain you and make you forget the stresses of daily life. 

Bollywood:

Bharat

Release date: 5th June, 2019

Starring: Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Tabu, Disha Patani, Sunil Grover, Jackie Shroff

Synopsis: The film is based on the South Korean melodrama Ode to My Father (2014). Salman Khan plays the role of the titular character, Bharat as he encounters many obstacles in life from the age of 18 to 70. The movie traces India's post-independence history from the perspective of one man. 

India’s Most Wanted

Release Date: 24th May, 2019

Starring: Arjun Kapoor, Amrita Puri, Rajesh Sharma, Prashanth Alexander, Shantilal Mukherjee 

Synopsis: The film revolves around a secret mission to capture India’s most notorious terrorists without firing bullets. It was inspired by the arrest of outlawed organization Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorist Abdul Subhan Qureshi, dubbed the Osama bin Laden of India. He was captured by Delhi Police in January 2018. 

Hollywood:  

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Release Date: 31st May, 2019

Starring: Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Sally Hawkins, Charles Dance, , Ken Watanabe, Zhang Ziyi

Synopsis: The film is a sequel to Godzilla (2014). The movie follows the efforts of the agency known as Monarch, as they fight against Godzilla. The monsters Mothra, Rodan and three-headed King Ghidorah are Godzilla’s enemies and the conflict between these legendary monsters nearly drives humans to extinction. 

Rocketman

Release Date:

Synopsis: Rocketman is biographical musical film based on the life of musician Elton John. It tells the story of Elton John's life, from his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music, through his influential and enduring musical partnership with Bernie Taupin, as well as his struggles with depression, substance abuse, and acceptance of his sexual orientation.
