Move for full rehabilitation of landless, homeless in Bauphal

A review and exchange meeting has been held in Bauphal to bring the landless and homeless families under 100% rehabilitation. The review and exchange of views meeting was held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium at 11am on Wednesday.

Former Chief Whip ASM Firoz MP, President of the Government Institutions Committee of the Jatiya Sangsad was present as the chief guest at the function presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Al Amin. Patuakhali Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Kamal Hossain, Upazila Chairman Abdul Motaleb Hawlader, Vice-Chairman Mosaref Hossain Khan, Women Vice-Chairman Maryam Begum Nishu, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Bayezid Hossain and others were present as special guests.

Atul Chandra Pal, senior journalist and former president of Bauphal Press Club, among others, spoke at the review and exchange of views meeting. Shahjahan Munshi, former president of the Freedom Fighters Command Council. Samsul Alam Mia, Naomala UP Chairman. Kamal Hossain, Adabaria UP Chairman Manjurul Alam, Chandradwip UP Chairman Enamul Haque Alkach Mollah and Press Club President Prof Amirul Islam. 

It was informed in the meeting that 100 families from the current list have been prepared for handing over the houses. The pre-arranged review and exchange meeting was supposed to be attended by a large number of people including the UP chairmen but the attendance was meager. Out of 15 UP chairmen of the upazila, only 3 were present. The local MP and deputy commissioner expressed their displeasure.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Kamal Hossain said that the passionate project of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is to rehabilitate the landless and homeless. It is unfortunate that the chairmen are absent from the review and exchange of meetings held for the implementation of that project. It was decided at the review and exchange meeting that the final list would be prepared by announcements through mikes in each union by April 28.
