The upcoming movie, ‘Sonar Char,’ starring Priyadarshini-famed Bangladeshi popular heroine Mousumi in the lead role, has obtained censor clearance a few days ago, but it has yet to get a release date as it largely depends on Mousumi's return home from abroad.

Mousumi went to America in October of last year (2023) and is still there. She is spending time with her mother, sister, and two children, Fardin and Faizah, while also trying to participate in various shows from time to time.

‘Sonar Char’ is directed by Zahid Hossain and produced by Jahangir Sikder. Producer Jahangir Sikder said that detailed steps for the release of the movie 'Sonar Char' will be taken upon Mousumi's return to the country.

He explained that the reason behind this decision is Mousumi's significant role in the movie. He wants to promote its release upon her return to the country.

Priyadarshini Mousumi said, “The story of the movie 'Sonar Char' is very beautiful, focusing on the period after 1975. I had previously acted in a movie titled 'Matritta,' directed by Zahid Hossain Bhai. It was one of the most talked-about movies of my career. Zahid Bhai is a very astute director and storyteller. He returned to filmmaking after a long time and attempted to make the movie 'Sonar Char’ with utmost care. I did my best to portray my character accurately. Once it is released in cinemas, the audience will be able to judge better.”

Mousumi mentioned that her return date to the country is undecided. She expressed her opinion that it would be beneficial for the movie 'Sonar Char' to be released after her return.

Mousumi's last two released movies are Ashutosh Sujan's 'Deshantor' and Mirza Sakhawat Hossain's 'Bhangon.'

Mousumi made her debut on March 25, 1993, as the heroine in the movie 'Keyamat Theke Keyamat,' directed by the late Sohanur Rahman Sohan. In her long-acting career, Mousumi has starred in many popular films and has received the National Film Award three times. She has also directed films, with her directorial debut being 'Kokhono Megh Kokhono Bristhi,' released on November 26, 2003.
