Mother, son beaten and stabbed in Lohagara

A mother and son were injured by beating and stabbing by opponents centering a land dispute in Lohagara upazila of Narail on Thursday noon.

The incident took place at Parshalnagar village of Shalnagar union in the upazila. The injured were identified as Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, 43, and his mother Tahera Begum, 65. They are undergoing treatment at Lohagara Hospital.

According to the complaint, there was a long-running dispute between Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, son of late Nazrul Islam of Parshalnagar village and Monir Hossain, son of Mojibar Miah of the same village.

Following that dispute, Monir Hossain and his relatives Hena Begum, Sufia Khanam, Bonni Khanam and 4/5 others beat and stabbed the mother and son with iron rods, sticks and domestic weapons near the house of the victim. Both of them were seriously injured in the attack.

According to source, a case was filed against the accused in the case of attempted murder by attacking Md. Abdullah Al Mamun on September 7, 2017. Police issued a charge sheet in the case. Besides, victim Md. Abdullah Al Mamun filed a general diary in the name of Monir Hossain and Hena Begum with Lohagara Police Station on October 19 last year for attacking and threatening Md. Abdullah Al Mamun.

Attempts to contact the accused were made but they could not be found. Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Syed Ashiqur Rahman said legal action would be taken after investigating the attack.
