Three persons including mother and daughter were killed in a road crash near Naohata under Paba upazila in Rajshahi-Naogaon highway on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as Bithi Khatun(33) wife of Akhter of Chandipur village under Niamatpur upazila of Naogaon, her daughter Mariam Jannat (4) and local Jubo dal leader Abdul Mannan (48) son of late Moyed Uddin of Chhoto Biraldaha village under Manda upazila of Naogaon district. Akter, husband of Bithi, has also been seriously injured in the accident and under treatment at the hospital.
Farid Hossain, Officer-in-charge of Paba police station informed, Akter with his wife and daughter was travelling on a motorbike while another motor-bike driven by Abdul Mannan collided with Akther and both bikes turned turtle on the road when a running tractor ripped through them killing Mariam and Abdul Mannan on the spot while attending doctors declared Bithi Khatun dead as she and her husband Akhter were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital by the Fire Service personnel.
OC Farid Hossain further said, the tractor driver managed to escape by abandoning the vehicle following the crash.
The tractor and the motor bikes were seized by police, he added.
