Allegation of money embezzlement of elderly, disabled and widow have been raised in Targao Union No. 4 of Kaharol Upazila in Dinajpur. Surprisingly, these 57 government grantees are now dead.
According to the rules, only nominees can withdraw the money of the deceased. How Azizul Haque, Raj Kumar, Mohammad Anarul Islam raised money. They are all U.P. members of 4th Tarargaon Union. They will not be able to withdraw the grant money.
But they also withdrew money and then deposited it in the bank again in the face of various pressures. Kaharol Upazila Bulia Bazar Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank Manager Mohammad Moinul Islam admitted the truth of the incident and told this correspondent that the UP members had withdrawn the money on 11/05/2020 and returned it to the bank on 10/08/2020.
Zarina Begum, a reserved female member of the same union, had lodged a written complaint with the media personnel including Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kaharol, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Kaharol Upazila Parishad Chairman, Upazila Social Service Department on 10/06/2020.
Following this, Kaharol Upazila Executive Officer Kaharol Upazila Social Services Department Officer Rajiv Kumar Bagchi was given the charge of investigation. The report was submitted at the end of the investigation. He told the media personnel in this regard, "We have investigated and submitted the investigation report to the Upazila Nirbahi Office." The report I received from Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner will also be submitted along with the Executive Officer on August 23 in 2020.
