Leader of Mohipur Awami League on Sunday started to cut paddy at the field of Farmer Abdul Aziz and Abdul Gaffar and delivered the paddy to the farmer’s house. The paddy cutting program started at 10 am in the morning.
Locals in the area said that farmers were struggling to cut paddy due to lack of labor in the area. Every season, workers from other districts come to the area to cut paddy. Farm workers are essential for this crucial job.
But due to nationwide lockdown, workers in this season could not reach in Patuakhali district. Judging the situation, local leaders of Awami Jubo League led by Mohipur Jubo League Convener MM Mizanur Rahman started to cut paddy at the field of farmers. They then also delivered the paddy to the farmer’s house.
Farmer Abdul Aziz said that he and other farmers were relieved when they saw local AL leaders came forward to help them. Farmers of the area this season were at a loss due to lack of workers in the area. A huge amount of paddy could be damaged, the feared. But leaders with good heart came to save they day, he said.
Mohipur Jubo League Convener MM Mizanur Rahman said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ordered AL leaders to stand aside farmers and to help them. Mohipur Jubo League started the initiative to fufill the direction of the PM. This process will be continued.
